What I’m reading

home_photo_books

Every book I listed as a recommendation I have read. Occasionally I will go back and re-read one of those to freshen up a bit on the themes and issues.

But I try to read as much as a can and learn from a wide diversity of authors, writing styles, thoughts, and reflections.  Any given day, I may be reading through 5-6 books or articles that capture my attention.

I will try to update my monthly reading as much as possible.  I will not include magazines that I subscribe to. These include Christianity Today, Youth Worker Journal, Group, Relevant, and The Journal of Student Ministries. I discover wonderful insights from these readings and highly recommend each one for student ministry and youth pastor development.

Masters Commission

Add this one to your list…. DO HARD THINGS by brett and alex harris. You’ll finish it in 5 hours and you can do a 4 to 8 week sermon series on it without blinking an eye. Every teenager needs to read this book and learn to rebel agains a culture of low expectations. I think I’m going to make every one of our 18-25 year old Ground Zero Masters Commission students read it before graduation. It’s an amazing book that is merely pointing out some pretty obvious things about the culture, but for whatever reason, no-one has seemed to notice until these guys started thier blog and their book. Google it and Check it out!! –drew–
